Salary Calculator

Convert between annual, monthly, and hourly pay (40-hour week basis).

Job offers, freelance quotes, and HR policy comparisons in Pakistan are often expressed in different time units — an annual package here, a monthly figure there, an hourly freelance rate somewhere else — which makes it genuinely hard to compare two opportunities side by side. This salary calculator converts between annual, monthly, and hourly pay so you can see every offer in the same terms your monthly budget actually uses.

Enter your annual salary in PKR along with your typical weekly working hours, and the calculator instantly returns the equivalent monthly and hourly figures, making it far easier to judge whether a new offer, a raise, or a freelance rate genuinely represents an improvement over your current situation.

How salary conversion works

Monthly pay is simply your annual salary divided by 12, assuming a standard 12-month payment structure without additional bonus months. Hourly pay divides your annual salary by the total working hours in a year, calculated as your weekly hours multiplied by 52 weeks.

This calculator works in gross salary terms by default — the amount before tax and other statutory deductions — since gross figures are what job offers and advertised salaries typically state, even though your actual take-home pay will be lower once income tax and other deductions are applied.

How to use the salary calculator

Enter your annual salary in PKR and your typical hours worked per week. The calculator returns the equivalent monthly salary and hourly rate. If your employer pays a 13th-month bonus, annual increments, or profit-sharing on top of base salary, decide whether to include those in your entered annual figure before converting, so the resulting monthly and hourly numbers reflect your true total compensation.

If you are comparing two job offers with different expected weekly hours — for example, a 40-hour role against a 48-hour role paying the same annual salary — run both through this calculator to see how differently their implicit hourly rates actually compare once real time commitment is factored in.

The conversion formulas explained

Monthly salary = Annual salary ÷ 12. Hourly rate = Annual salary ÷ (Weekly hours x 52). These are straightforward divisions, but small differences in how you define "annual salary" — gross versus net, with or without bonuses — will change every downstream figure, so be consistent about which definition you are using.

Some employers calculate monthly pay using working days per month rather than a clean annual-divided-by-12 approach, which can create small discrepancies between this calculator's smoothed estimate and your actual payslip in a given month.

Worked PKR example

Suppose your annual salary is PKR 1,800,000 and you work a standard 40-hour week. Monthly salary = PKR 1,800,000 ÷ 12 = PKR 150,000. Hourly rate = PKR 1,800,000 ÷ (40 x 52) = PKR 1,800,000 ÷ 2,080 = approximately PKR 865 per hour.

Now suppose a competing job offer pays the same PKR 1,800,000 annual salary but expects a 48-hour week. Monthly salary stays the same at PKR 150,000, but the hourly rate falls to PKR 1,800,000 ÷ (48 x 52) = PKR 1,800,000 ÷ 2,496 = approximately PKR 721 per hour — nearly 17% lower once the extra weekly hours are accounted for.

Tips and common mistakes

Do not assume monthly pay is always exactly annual salary divided by 12 on your actual payslip — some employers calculate based on working days in a specific month, which can create small month-to-month variation even on a fixed annual salary.

When comparing gross salary offers, remember that this page does not deduct income tax or other statutory contributions. Use the Income Tax Calculator on the same annual figure to estimate your realistic net take-home pay before making a final decision between two job offers.

If your role includes significant unpaid overtime, commuting time, or on-call expectations that are not reflected in your stated weekly hours, your true effective hourly rate is lower than this calculator shows — adjust the weekly hours field upward to capture a more honest comparison.

When to use related calculators

Once you have your monthly or annual gross figure, run it through the Income Tax Calculator to estimate realistic take-home pay under current FBR salaried slabs. If you are also budgeting for a new loan or mortgage installment against a new salary, the Loan Calculator or Mortgage Calculator will show whether the payment comfortably fits your updated take-home income.

For freelancers quoting hourly project rates, converting a target annual income into an hourly figure here can help you set a fair rate before negotiating with a client.
